The rapid development of traffic infrastructure construction has raised higher and newer requirements of information integration and management. There are many problems in existing highway information management system, such as the difficult of filing, old display mode, lack of analysis function and lack of sharing mechanism. It is hard to meet the requirements of operation management unit’s information management, query and analysis.This paper constructs a road information model by do research on the theory of road design and information model. On this basis, it lucubrates the road3D interactive visualization theory and method. The main research contents and achievements are listed as follow:1. It studies the spatial information, the road line information and the operation and maintenance information and designs the information extraction algorithms and data interface. It establishes the G-R-tree index and grid-vertex-triangular index to enable a quick search for feature and location information. Ultimately, it can build the road information model.2. On the basis of the road information model, this article firstly applies the theory of constrained Delaunay triangulation to build the geologic model. Then, the parametric model and interactive model are applied in this article to build road triaxial model. Finally, it put all these models together to achieve a integrated road model.3. This article studies the data characteristics of large-scale road scene, and uses the directed acyclic graph structure to manage the complex scenes. Through the application of the technology such as cone crop, dynamic scheduling and collision detection, It can achieve the efficient organization and scheduling of3D scene.4. The half folding algorithm is used in this article to simplify the model quickly. Then this article reconstructs the model by creating a hierarchical structure, It ultimately achieves the3D interactive roaming scene editing and modification functions.5. Using all these research results above comprehensively, we develop the3D interactive visualization system for road operation and maintenance management, and this system has been applied in the Operation and Maintenance Management of Changsha Nanhu Road Xiangjiang tunnel project and Qinglan road Handan project successfully.
