With the advantage of light weight, strong bearing capacity, convenient constructionand so on, truss structure has been widely used in the field of structural design. Most ofthe current design of truss structures are based on architectural design requirements andthe designer’s experiences,This design method’s cycle is long, and the process isunstable, need’s frequently modified, and the structure is difficult to find the best way todesign. This makes the reliability and economy of the structure difficult to be guaranteed.In this paper, I transformed the discrete topological optimization design of the trussoptimization problem into a continuum topology optimization problem using the methodof topology optimization. The homogenization method and variable density method havebeen widly used in the commercial finite element software to achieve the topologyoptimization function. This paper, first introduceds the basic concept of homogenizationmethod and variable density method, then establishes the mathematical model of topologyoptimization, focuses on the implementation process of the finite element with whese twomethods. Basis of this introduced optimization concept design of the boom of the trussunder the moving loads and the topology optimization of large span space on. Finallyconverted the space truss topology optimization result into specific optimization designscheme, and compared with the original scheme analysis.By comparing the optimization scheme with the original scheme,we find that the useof topology optimization for the conceptual design of structure has better mechanicalproperties and lower material consumption. This suggests that the topology optimizationmethod can improve the efficiency of structural design and improve engineering quality,and reduce the project cost which have important significance.
