Abstract/Summary:
Based on the requirements of green transportation, energy conservation and emission reduction, the feasibility, that vetiver zizaniodes ecological protection technique (short for VGT) could be applied to slope protection in North Central Henan, is discussed. In view of this situation, engineering mechanical properties, model tests and pilot project of the improved vetiver zizaniodes has been conducted. The main results obtained are as follows.(1) The ecology and engineering mechanical properties of the vetiver zizaniodes have been known through the literature research, and then the probability that the VGT is used in the highway slope protection in North Central Henan, is investigated.(2) The model tests have been carried out to investigate the ecological characteristic of the improved vetiver zizaniodes in the different soil conditions. The tests results demonstrate that the ecological property of the improved plant is close to that in Southern China.(3) The direct-shear tests of soil root complex and tensile tests of improved vetiver zizaniodes have been conducted. The test results show that the little difference of mechanical properties of the plant developed in Southern China and North Central Henan exists. On the basis the pilot project in the Ji Shao Expressway has been implemented.Above all, the improved vetiver zizaniodes can be applied to the ecological protection of road slope in North Central Henan.
