| With the rapid development of communications networks worldwide and the advent ofsynchronized phase measure devices, WAMS emerges and gets more attention of technologyworkers both at home and abroad. WAMS has been fully applied in the power system.Measurement system obtains the information of power system through communicationsnetworks and does control, monitoring, operation, protection to it, in order to improve itsefficiency and stability, and the same time promotes the development of the power systemvigorously.The text reviews development and recent research of WAMS, and provides the mainfeatures and performance indicators of it. The Research of physical carrier, transmission modeand communications technology of WAMS means to improve its performance. The analysisbased on performance requirements of power system and combined with the characteristics ofWAMS, communication mode and media. Using optical fiber as physical carrier, IP overSDH as transfer mode,and MPLS technology to improve the performance of it. Thesimulation model of the communication system has been modeling in OPNET,and doesresearch in the simulation results of important indicator, such as signal delay, RMA.The finalconclusion that the results have a high value for Wide Area Measurement communicationssystem design, and can be a reference that the future design of wide area measurement systemin the power system. |
