With the development of computer technology, CAD and CAE technology in theautomobile industry has gradually get promotion and popularization in China, accordingto the current trend, the virtual prototype technology has shortened productdevelopment cycle, reduced cost, improved the efficiency of enterprises, produced moreefficient optimization, etc,the main reason is that it combines a variety of advancedmethods and techniques. Therefore, import of virtual prototype technology in theautomotive industry will become a trend, it is also an important direction to transformthe automotive industry with advanced technology.Dump truck, as a special vehicle in the field of automobile, has got a rapiddevelopment in recent years. Based on the engineering practice of the dump truckdesign and development,the direction of our research is to design dump truck byusing virtual prototype technology.Regarding the lifting mechanism of dump truck as study object and the virtualprototype technology as the application platform, the article mainly optimized the liftingmechanism of dump truck systematically. First of all, this paper introduces domesticand international research dynamic on virtual prototyping technology and the liftingmechanism, summarizes the multibody system dynamic method and the basic principleof finite element method and the virtual prototyping software ADAMS and Hypermesh.Following, the paper classifies the types of lifting mechanism, regards the T type liftingmechanism of dump truck as the research object; Then based on virtual prototypeenvironment of solidworks, the3D solid model of the lifting mechanism was built andassembled, put the assembled solid model into ADAMS environment, kinematics anddynamics simulation analysis results show that the lifting proceed smoothly withoutinterference and mutations, at the same time it also can acquire lift force of the key partsin the lifting process. Finally, the finite element analysis was carried out on thedamaged component lifting mechanism, we can get the distribution of the stress andstrain from there, so it can provide reliable basis for the strength and stiffness analysisof lifting mechanism parts. Results showed that: the use of material of originaltriangular arm was irrational. Therefore, triangular arm was optimized topologically bymeans of variable density method. The optimization results showed that: under thepremise of primary strength and stiffness, the quality of triangular arm was reduced to26.7%,from75kg previous to55kg,achieved the lightweight design of the triangular arm.The research of this subject has made the optimization design of dump truckmechanism; it improves the performance of lifting mechanism, thereby improving theparameters matching of vehicle performance. It also can provide necessary reference forsubsequent research, product development and the performance improvement, in thelong run, there is a certain positive role for the manufacturers to improve productdevelopment efficiency, reduce the production costs, save materials, shorten thedevelopment cycle, etc.
