Due to human’s traffic demands, higher requirements for the ability of dealing withand bear the common and accidental traffic problems are proposed, which leads to thatthe reliability theory and the basic method for network analysis are used to analyze thestability degree of service levels provided by city traffic system, but also is regarded asthe decision basis of transportation planning and management, enhancing the servicedegree of road network. Thus, the research on reliability, which is regarded as the basisstep for the research of road network flow induced, is crucial to the research of relatedtheory for traffic network systems. However, associated with the approach of the aftertraffic era, the reliability of the road network will face more and more problems andchallenges that need to be continuously improved in accordance with the existingstudies on road network reliability. Therefore, it is meaningful to establish a scientificreasonable safety evaluation model for analyzing and estimating the comprehensiveability for the city road network.On the basis of the target mentioned above, on basis of the complex networktheory and the reliability of the road network, theoretical studies on vulnerability, theability of bomb refolding and the reliability are conducted on improved topologypotential, and then the related models are established and the corresponding simulationanalysis are implemented by means of the computer simulation.1. The complex network theory is introduced into the studies on urban trafficnetwork vulnerability, and then two attacks that are random attacks and selective attackand their special attack strategies are given according to the complex nature of urbantraffic network.2. The dual method is used for abstract analysis of urban road network, and thetopology mapping of the road network is carried out integrated with the Pajek. TheMatlab simulation is implemented, and the simulation results reveal that the urban roadnetwork is a small world network, which laid a solid foundation for assessing thecomprehensive reliability performance of the urban road network system effectively,reasonably and accurately.3. The research model about the urban road network vulnerability is established onthe basis of the random attacks and selective attack of complex networks, and thecorresponding changes about performances are presented respectively, which reveals that the higher sensitivity is appeared in selective attack. Meanwhile, the quantitativevalue of the vulnerability about the network nodes is calculated.4. The random repair model and the selective repair model for the bomb refoldingassessment of the road network is established on the basis of the characteristics of theurban road network. The simulation experiment is carried out by means of theMatlab7.0, and the experiment results show that the effect of selective restoration repairis superior to the randomness of the repair, which provides the road network managerswith new ideas and directions to take the necessary remedial measures when the urbanroad network is under attack.5. The concept of topology potential is introduced in this paper, and then thetopology potential is improved combined with urban traffic network’s owncharacteristics. The specific values of its impact factors in topological potential aredetermined in the experiment.6. On the basis of the improved topology potential, the safety assessment model ofurban road network is built associated with the nature of vulnerability and ability ofbomb refolding. The related simulation is conducted, and the specific values of thereliability for various nodes in the network, which provides for the planning,management, and maintenance of the road network.The final chapter summarizes the research work and points out the lack of theresearch and the development direction of the urban road network reliability in thefuture.
