Reactor, the key equipment of the transmission system, has been researched a lot both in China and abroad. With the rapid development of the power system, gradually, reactor is required to meet the demands of special conditions and purpose. Recently, a lot of researches have been done on DC de-icing technology. In such situation, the reactor must be with small size, low magnetic leakage, free maintenance as well as the ability to cater for the needs of DC de-icer. Dry-type iron-core reactor will be just the one. However, the special conditions of DC de-icing has increased its difficulty on design.The content of this thesis is to study on the design method of dry-type iron-core reactor, when working in the situation of large current, harmonic and short-time. First, briefly describes the difference of design between this type of iron-core reactor and conventional one. What’s more, it comes to the relevant calculation methods. On coil loss, current loss and circulation loss affected by harmonic are all taken into account. And as to core loss, the iron loss model parameters of cold-rolled non-oriented silicon steel35WW270are fit in the sine wave, with the help of non-linear curve tool of Matlab. Besides, the iron loss calculation model under the multiple harmonic is put forward. Based on the above, drawing design flow and compiling software can be put into use. Finally, using Ansoft to simulate and optimize the magnetic flux leakage on structural component of reactor.The results of the study are as the following. Firstly:compared with the sample, the iron loss model using the nonlinear curve has small relative error, which is suitable for the practical engineering. Secondly:the efficiency of design calculations is improved greatly, and the software can also be used in other design calculations. Thirdly:the position of leakage magnetic can be found by simulation, and it provides the reference for the better optimization either.
