Demand response takes inducing mechanism to prompt the users to change the power consumption modes, which is one of the main applications of smart grid. Currently, DR can only be realized manually, and there are not devices realizing DR automatically. In this paper, an information exchange interface for demand response in smart grid is designed, which is a communication entity among DR application processes, and achieve demand response automation at last.At first, the paper combines with relevant national policies, and grid management approach introduced by the grid company, makes needs of markets and users investigated be the foundation, and analyses the price-based and incentive-based demand response business requirements. As a result,8use cases are extracted, and different combinations of those cases can complete different functions.Then, combining business requirements analysis, an information exchange interface for demand response in smart grid is designed, including demand response exchange system composition and deployment, demand response information exchange interface hierarchy and the corresponding designs, and demand response information exchange interface service function designs. Demand response is structured into four domains, each domain has corresponding roles, and transmit information on different communication infrastructures. Interface hierarchy contains function layer, information layer and communication layer. In the part of service function design, four kinds of functions provided by demand response information exchange interface, and the corresponding primitives are given.At last, a DR system is developed from two aspects, which are system design and database design. The system design uses three layers structure mode, which mainly involving the DR server, DR polymerization system and DR client. According to the characteristics of the power network in database design, Oracle database is chosen, and combined with the division of function modules, data table is given. In addition, the system is applied to practical projects, and the effect is evaluated.
