With the rapid development of the national power grid construction, a large number ofanti-twist ropes, which are widely used in tensile stringing as pulling ropes, will be put into use.The security of the rope directly related to the safety of the staff, tensile equipments and areasalong the working place. For the working condition of the rope is rough, proper and timelymaintenance for the ropes is required after the tensile stringing project. Due to the lack of a suitableand applicable integration device used for the rope cleaning, inspection and maintenancecurrently in domestic, this paper makes a research on wire rope grease removing, which is a partof the rope maintenance, and the air wipe’s flow field based on the integration device. The mainwork is as follows:(1) Take out a design scheme for the integration device used for the rope cleaning,inspection and maintenance according to the user’s requirements. According to the specificusing requirements and the characteristics of grease removing devices existing, design agrease removing device based on the integration device. With searching domestic and foreignliteratures and inspecting related enterprises, air wipe, with which it would make the greaseremoving uniform and the control of the grease preservation quantity easy, was chosen as thegrease removing tool. A collision avoidance mechanism was used in the grease removingdevice and the device was controlled by PLC. It’s capable for the device to conductcontinuous grease removing for multiple plates of wire ropes.(2) Make a study on the air wipe’s flow field about the air flow characteristics andchoose an appropriate turbulence model for the air wipe’s flow field based on the study, whichprovide the theoretical basis for air wipe’s flow field simulation analysis. Take the air wipe’sjet strike force and air wipe’s consumption as indicators of grease removing effect. Deriveformulas of the strike force and the consumption. These provide a theoretical basis forsimulation analysis about the parameters that affecting the effect of grease removing.(3) Take analysis of parameters that may have impact on the strike force and air wipe’sconsumption. The air wipe’s edge gap, the distance between the edge and the rope and theinlet pressure of the air wipe ate believed to be the more important parameters. An orthogonalexperiment was designed to analyze the impact of the first two parameters on the effect of grease removing. Numerical simulations about flow field were performed using Fluentsoftware and the optimal level combination was determined by analyzing the simulationresults. To analyze the impact of the inlet pressure on grease removing, single parametermethod was used for simulation to confirm the relationship between the inlet pressure and thestrike force.(4) Improve the device by solving the problems appeared during the use. Check theimpact of partial orthogonal portfolio and inlet pressure on grease removing with experimentsusing the device. The experiments validate the reliability of the numerical simulations.
