Hydropower resources is an important part of our energy, along with theeconomic and technological development and energy structure constantly changing,to develop the use of hydropower is the road of China’s sustainable development.Small Cascade Hydropower is one of the important types of hydropower, how to usea small cascade hydropower stations to generate electricity optimize scheduling toachieve a reasonable and efficient use of water is the key technical problems beresolved to the social and economic development.This paper analyzes the characteristics and development trend of small cascadehydropower stations, summed up the home and abroad research on the optimaloperation of small cascade hydropower stations in the results, described and analyzedthe existing problems of the process on its operation. Based on this, through theintroduction of small hydropower plant economic operation, to improve thetraditional dynamic programming; By improving the model, can achieve a realisticoptimal scheduling of the leading hydropower reservoirs. Against the operatingcharacteristics of cascade hydropower stations, the paper establish a schedule to runthe model of small cascade hydropower stations and establish its operation schedulingrules and a inter-station flow matching of the small cascade hydropower stations; Thiscan be a good guide of the small cascade hydropower stations. Summarized thespecific contents as follows:1. According to the problem of the dynamic scheduling of reservoir are notconsidered in the traditional process of hydropower station operation andcharacteristics, introducing the economic operation of hydropower plant to thehydropower station, and improving the traditional dynamic programming in poweroutput after the optimal operation of plant, an improved dynamic programming modelof hydropower station reservoir scheduling is established. Based on the research ofscheduling a small hydropower stations’ leading hydropower station reservoir, themodel can be used to solve the scheduling question.2. Against scheduling problem with Cascade Hydropower stations cascadescheduling model was established, by solving the model, so as to arrive dispatching operation rule of small Cascade Hydropower stations. According to the characteristicsof the small Cascade Hydropower stations, the paper presents a flow matching of thesmall Cascade Hydropower stations to achieve a joint optimization between thehydropower. According to cascade dispatching rules, to provide a theoretical andtechnical support for the planning and post-transformation of Cascade Hydropower.Finally, the results of this study were summarized and the still need to continueto study the issue and follow-up are discussed in this article.
