| A Stair is one of the most common functional elements in architecture,but it may became quite Particular when a stair changes our ways of movements in space,and has an effect on our spatial experience------as the extension of our ways of movements in vertical direction,A stair affects our ways of spatial experience;as the connection and the combination of spaces on different levels of height,a stair is one of the most special paths which brings spatial experience in the vertical direction to users during the passing through.It is obviously that stairs do have their special significances in space apart from functional factors.As I think,the research of space is one of the most important aspects in architecture,which is more worthy to us to thinking seriously.So,this article begins with my serious attention on the research of space and aims at the significances of stairs in space.In order to expound clearly,I choose the straight staircases as my object of study,hoping to the simple rules behind the complex phenomenon.The study of staircases should never rest on the basic functional level. It is for this reason that I decide to begin the article with my thinking of architecture space,and hoping togive out some suggestions during the design and analysis of staircases which are more operational and reasonable. |
