With the development of science and technology, cable-stayed bridge is developingrapidly. More and more long-span bridges have been designed and built recently, andmore attention has been paid to the safety and durability of bridges. The paper analyzesstay cable damage and the effects of broken on the carrying capacity of the bridge.Based on a preliminary analysis, theory and practice of predecessors, it tries to explore asort of law, as a theoretical basis for the monitoring and maintenance of in-serviceperiod.Currently, research work on the safety and durability of cable stayed bridge stillremain in health monitoring of the cable-stayed structure. The later period ofcable-stayed management and maintenance such as life evaluation also needs to befurther improved. Overall, it is rare to solve the safety and durability technical issuesthrough preliminary designs, crafts of construction and a reasonable way ofmaintenance. Therefore, it is necessary to study the impact of the stay cable damage andfracture on the carrying capacity of the bridge.Firstly, the development of cable-stayed bridge has been described in detail,including introduction of structure characteristics and trends of cable-stayed. Secondly,the risk of the cable-stayed bridge has been analyzed theoretically. The risk of the unitand the overall risk are described specifically. And the countermeasures of these riskfactors have been proposed. Based on the cable-stayed bridge risk analysis results andthe results of a series of field testing, real-time monitoring and so on, it tries to analyzethe theoretical model of health diagnosis on the cable-stayed bridge; introduces geneticsimulated annealing algorithm, partial least squares method of causal analysis model,and analyzing the composition and practice of integration monitoring system, building acomplete monitoring system with a integration.Then the modeling analyze of a cable-stayed bridge with the software MIDASCIVIL has been carried out. It simulates and calculates the effects under a variety ofbroken cable situation, analyzing the impact of cable forces, the main beam linear, maingirder stress under different circumstances. The sensitivity of the structure underdifferent conditions has been studied and the calculation results has been listed andsummarized. The bridge monitoring views has been put forward according to theanalysis, and it studies a feasible detection scheme. The health monitoring of cable force, deflection and stress can be used as a reference of cable-stayed bridge in the futureselection of monitoring contents and arrangement of sensors. Finally, the existingmonitoring programs and methods is introduced and contrasted. It believes the programand method cannot be use alone, but should be combined into one system formonitoring, in order to achieve better results. And it also performs warning of the bridgeoperating condition ahead of time.
