Commuter travel is the most basic and important travel of urban residents. However, with the rapid increase in Beijing’s vehicle population, traffic congestion is worsening, especially in the morning and evening peak commuter travel time. Beijing weekday’s daily traffic jam is115minutes in2013, which severely restricts the development of the city, reduces the quality of life of residents. Commuter travel is a rigid demand, and travel mode is a flexible way to adjust. Improving travel structure and creating a reasonable travel mode structure can ease traffic congestion fundamentally Thus, guiding private car travel switch to public transport can ease traffic congestion, reduce environmental pollution, solve the energy crisis.Based on the characteristics of the car commuter travel and commuting travel mode choice influencing factors and the survey data of commuter travel by car shift to public transport, car mode shift to public transport model was constructed, which provides an important reference on the formulation and implementation of policy on easing urban traffic congestion. This paper specifically made the following research:First of all, this paper introduces the research background, based on the research literature, the content and technical route of this article was proposed; Secondly, the car commuter travel features and car commuter travel attribute characteristics were analyzed; Travel mode choice is determined by a variety of factors, therefore this article made a detailed analysis of the factors affecting the transfer of car commuting travel model to public transport. Then, the paper selected for the research area of Tongzhou, used RP+SP survey methods to obtain data, and used variance discrimination method, scoring method, logic verification method for data filtering and correction. Finally, the car to public transport commuters travel mode shift model was established, and used the model to predict the "near low","near high","far lower","far higher" four cars to public transport crowd otherwise transfer rate.The main conclusions drawn by this paper is:commuter travel by property age, household income, driving-years can significantly affect car commuter travel mode shift to public transport; travel characteristics, travel time, rising costs of car, public transport fares, the congestion within public transport will significantly affect travelers for cars and public transport travel mode choice. Probability of the crowd near the subway transfer to public transport is far above the crowd far from the subway; probability of low-income groups to shift to public transport is higher than the high-income groups.
