The instability or collapse of voltage is one of the main factors that affect the safe operation of grid. Hence, it has important theoretical value to study the mechanism of the stability of voltage in power system based on complicated systematic theory. This thesis begins with stand-alone single complex system, which is the simplest one. Assume a model, structured by dozens of induction motors, which can simplify the system of power generating and transmission, so the number of induction motor cascading stalling indicates the scope of voltage collapse, so this thesis focuses on the simulation study of induction motor cascading stalling. In the first part, the thesis introduces the background and meaning of the study of voltage stability in power system. Then it presents the definition and analysis of voltage stability. After this, it narrates the importance of induction motor in power system stability. Then, it briefly introduces the load model of several kinds of induction motor, and describes the first order mechanical-transient model and the third order mechanical-electrical transient model of induction motor in detail.Based on the first order mechanical-transient model and the third order mechanical-electrical transient model of induction motor, this thesis studies the static characteristics under different induction motor parameters so as to obtain the P-s curve, Q-s curve and V-s curve of induction motor and in the meantime, obtains the static characteristic curve of induction motor, and makes comparison of different results obtained from above research. And in the final part, the thesis makes simulation studies of the induction motor cascading stalling in both static state and dynamic state under simple system, based on first order mechanical-transient model in assumed average distribution of initial slip; the thesis also makes comparison of the results obtained from above simulation study and proceeds first-step investigation of analysis of third order mechanical-transient model.
