Transmission and distribution substation is a very important part of the system, it is the sender of the message, but also the control command receiving terminal. Substation equipment condition directly affects the security and stability of the entire grid. Once a larger substation equipment failure, it will cause serious impact on the regional power grid. Therefore, we must ensure the safe operation of substation equipment, ensure grid security and stability.For the above problems, the substation equipment maintenance becomes particularly important. Currently scheduled maintenance are taken way. But there are some problems scheduled maintenance, financial and material resources at the same time can not be wasted to achieve the best results overhaul. Condition-based maintenance is the recent development of a new maintenance technology, it is able to overcome certain extent planned maintenance drawbacks, for the power system to bring greater efficiency, but also the future development of smart grid substation’s basic requirements.This paper introduces the concept of intelligent substation and its system structure, this paper expounds the necessity of intelligent substation maintenance mode, through the comparative analysis of the data of the superiority of state maintenance; studies the present situation of intelligent substation maintenance, presents the main technical route of state maintenance and key technology; analyzes the main factors of transformer insulation deterioration study on the formation mechanism, various gases in transformer oil, designed a kind of on-line monitoring system based on photoacoustic, realize the transformer condition maintenance; analyzes the main factors of insulation deterioration of power cable, the principle of optical fiber temperature sensor, the design of the distributed optical fiber temperature sensor online monitoring system, implementation the condition based maintenance of power cable. Construction of the optical fiber communication system of substation, the optical fiber communication online monitoring information of substation, improve the transmission speed of substation monitoring information.
