The main function of the aquatic area in botanical gardens is to form a specified garden with palpable feature,which designs scenic spots by garthering and studying various aquatic plants.The dissertation introduces the background, the history, the developement direction of botanical gardens in the world;in the same time introduces the relationship between botanical gardens and landscape design, and studies the layouts of south subtropical botanical gardens. The main contents of the dissertation includes definitions and explanation of relevant theories. the dissertation generalizes and studies aquatic areas of domestic representative tropical botanical gardens, such as Shanghai Chen Shan aquatic plants garden, Shenzhen Honghu Park,Lantau Peak South Tropical Botanical Garden in Zhuhai,Xishuangbanna Botanical Garden,and palm gardens of Rumsfeld tropical botanical garden. Classifying the location, nature, and function of aquatic areas of botanical gardens, the dissertation concludes the design feature and layout principles--using various aquatic plants to landscape--which helps designing aquatic scenic spots of the botanical gardens.In the planning and design Qingxiushan aquatic park in Nanning, the basic idea is ecological protection, conservation of species diversity, focusing on the integration and coordination of mutual aquatic plants, landscape architecture, hydrological conditions between satisfy tours, leisure and entertainment needs of tourists, but also pay attention to the principles of science, research, economics and art.
