With the development of economy and population increased, city land resources become increasingly strained, which resulting in more and more high rise buildings.The first problem to be solved is the seismic problems for these high rise building design.The earthquake for building damage is obvious, from the Tangshan earthquake to the Wenchuan earthquake, numerous live example warn us that the seismic design is important for buildings especially for high rise buildings.Support system is widely used in the seismic design buildings due to a good side force resistance.But in the strong earthquake, the general support easily buckling deformation, which directly affect the stability of the whole structure.In order to make the support anti-seismic function better in architecture, Japanese scientists first proposed the idea of Buck-ling-Restrained Braced Frame (BRB).BRB will yield but not buckling under the axial loads with good energy dissipation characteristics,for building seismic effect is better than that of other common support. Chinese research on buckling restrained braces started relatively late, therefor domestic architecture applied this support need the introduction of foreign technology and products, which also need to pay the huge cost of patent.This paper first introduced the structure characteristics of BRB, by studying the principle of some home and abroad engineering examples. Using theoretical methods for buckling restrained braces overall stability in the seismic effect,found the reasonable mechanical model for finite element simulation analysis.In the structural analysis chapter,used SAP2000finite element software to analyze and compare two kinds of frame structure. According to the design method conformed to China specifications,using time-procedure analysis on common support frame structure and buckling restrained brace frame structure.Results showed that the BRB has good anti-seismic property with many advantages,which used in higer seismic requirement buildings is better than common supporting rod.This paper needed to be further improved because lack of corresponding structure test results, at the same time as the practical engineering application was less, theory result data which can be used was insufficient.
