Hemming is a common method to the cover panel of motor vehicle. And the hemming quality affect the appearance and the assembly. Hemming die design is difficult and different from the punch die, because of the narrow and irregular shaping area.This paper presents a kinematic analysis and forming technology for a hemming die of the ZP11covering panels. By investigating the hemming defects in the ZP11rear door wrapping die design, this paper analyzes the wrapping process and studies the mechanism design for wrapping and wrapping forming process, and a new structural scheme is presented. The new hemming die structure improved the final wrapping forming quality. Some details investigated in this paper are stated as follows.(1) The wrapping process of the ZP11wrapping die is analyzed and the kinematics of pre-hemming mechanism of ZP11mold are simulated using ADAMS software.(2) The die interferometry situation is checked by kinematics simulation technology, and then the presence but not easily detected static interferences are excluded. The interference and unreasonable circumstance in movement are improved also.(3) Through inspecting for the improved real die, the static interference problems are solved, and the hemming and wrapping quality of ZP11covering panels is improved.To provide a valuable reference and increase efficiency for similar structure, the hemming die structure is analysised, and the kinematics of usually used pre-hem structure is derived. The interference checking of ZP11can help the test of the similar hemming die.
