The construction of offshore wind farm in China is developing rapidly. The windmachine maintenance and transportation of people becomes an urgent problem to be solved.As a convenient transportation, the research and development of offshore wind farmmaintenance vessel has theoretical significance and practical value. With the developmentof computer technology and, the advantages of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in theprediction of ship hydrodynamic performance attracted more and more attention. Thesimulating calculation of resistance and sea-keeping has become a new way to research.According to the requirements of offshore wind farm, the feature of mono-hull,catamaran and multi-hulls are investigated and analyzed. At last, catamaran has been choseas offshore wind farm maintenance vessel because of its excellent performance, such asgood stability, sea-keeping performance and high speed. Through the analysis of smallcatamaran’s statistical data and design manual, the principal dimension of the design windfarm maintenance vessel is given. According to the different characteristics of the sheetbody line, the conventional catamaran, catamaran based on WPC and catamaran based onSWATH are designed.With empirical formula, the hydrostatic resistance of the conventional catamaran iscalculated. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software Fluent is used to simulateconventional hydrostatic resistance, and explore a reasonable meshing method, the numberof grid, turbulence model settings and set the boundary conditions, in this way thesimulation results and the theoretical results exactly the same. The hydrostatic resistance ofthe other two vessels is calculated through the same simulation method. According to theanalysis of the result of resistance performance calculation, the best resistance performanceis the catamaran based on SWATH.Through the pitch and heave calculation for three kinds of maintenance vessel by thesea-keeping calculation module in NAPA software, we can get the frequency responsefunction for the three vessels at different speed and different wave angles. The performanceof pitch and heave for the three vessels are taken the comparative analysis, then we getresults that the maintenance vessel based on WPC has the best pitch and heave properties,followed is the maintenance ship of conventional sheet shape, and the worst is thecatamaran based on SWATH.Research achievement and some conclusions obtained in this paper has a certainreference value on resistance, pitch and heave performance of this type of vessel andprovide a reference for the selection of offshore wind farm maintenance vessel。...
