Watt-hour meter is one of the most widely used instruments in our country.However,with the reform policy of smart grid and energy metering management levelincreasing,the functional requirements of watt-hour meter is becoming more and more strict.Not only needs the meter to accurately measure the parameters of the grid, but also toanalyse the power quality and monitor the power status in real-time. Because of the fatallimitation of data bandwidth and data processing speed,the watt-hour meter which takes asimple8bit MCU as a control core can not meet the needs of the constantly developingsmart grid. So developing a high-performance-CUP-based smart meter which combinedwith embedded system is the hotspot both at home and abroad. Focus on monitoring smartgrid, this paper designs a new smart meter system based on ARM and completes relatedexperiments,the specific includes:The whole system of smart meter designed in this paper is divided into three parts:thehardware design of smart meter system;the development and transplantation of embeddedLinux operating system;the software design of smart meter system. Here we selectmainstream ARM microprocessor S3C2440as system’s host controller,ADE7758chip assystem’s core measurement chip and give a specific hardware circuit design according to theneeds,which includes the design of hardware circuit of ARM system,mutual inductorcircuit,signal conditioning circuit,relay drive circuit and electrical parameters measurementcircuit.Then designs an embedded system. Based on ARM-Linux embedded system whichuses2.6kernel version,we complete the development and transplantation of embeddedLinux system based on ARM9.The specific includes:building the development platform,establishing the embedded cross compiling environment; modifying the U-Boot source codeto compile and transplant U-Boot on the basis of analyzing the embedded system bootloader program Bootloader, understanding the architecture and startup process of embeddedLinux system and completing modification, compilation and transplantation of the systemkernel source code; according to the application requirements, selecting YAAFF2filesystem as the root file system and explaining the implementation process of the root filesystem.Focusing on the smart meter system’s features,we complete the system’s softwaredesign, device drive development and the construction and systems application development of embedded network-control system Boa server.By experiment,on the basis of ensuringaccurate measurement of field data and real-time display,this smart meter system realizesremote monitoring and communication. This system has high stability,good capability/priceratio and a wide range of application value.
