With the high pace of the development of the modernized transportationindustry, the remarkable achievements in bridge construction and design have beenmade in China over the years. In other words, construction of highway engineering,such as bridge, will be paid more attention in twenty-first century all over the world.As the developments of river bridges and sea crossing bridges, stronger crossovercapability, higher economic feasibility and better aesthetics will be the developmenttrend. Comparing with the cement concrete, steel has better structural performance,which means steel bridge has more advantages. The joint of high strength bolts isone of the main connections of steel structures, which means the design ofconnection plays an important role in structural safety, and also, influences theinstallation and cost of structure directly.In consideration of the high level in bridge construction and earlierdevelopment in steel bridge in Japan and Korea, this article aims to introduce thetypes and material behaviors of high-strength bolts in both China and Korea, in orderto help speed up the bridge construction in China move to keep up with the globallevel. At the same time, the comparison of calculation provisions of bearing capacityof connection of high-strength bolts between Chinese Code for Design of steelStructures and Korean Road and Bridge Design Standards will be given in thisarticle. The last but not the least, this article introduces the common steels forbridges and their material properties in both China and Korea.The analysis of connection behaviors of high-strength bolts, and the study ofconstruction of entity’s finite element model are limited to the simulation of structurenode in most cases, which confines their applications into the integral structure. Inthis article, ABAQUS finite element software will be used to establish the finiteelement model of high tension bolted joints in plate girder, in order to simulate thehigh-strength bolted joints in actual structure. And also, by changing the thickness ofconnecting plate in different position, strength grade of steels, grade of high-strengthbolts and pre-tension force exerted by bolts, respectively, the influences caused by these factors to structure stress will be shown and analyzed in this article.
