Automobile intelligence is an important direction in the development of automobileindustry. More and more intelligent devices are integrated into the car, so vehicleperformances, including safety, comfort, economy and so on are improved. As the corecomponent of vehicle starting system, the starter’s service life directly affects vehicleoperational performance. The human factors and objective environment factors affect theservice life of the automotive starter. Developing automotive starter with intellectualprotection function, and communication capability, will prolong effectively service life.As to the starter intelligent protection module developed by AVR single chipmicrocomputer, based on the existing work, the module need to do further optimization andimprovement, and the performance test should be done. In addition, in order to verify thereliability of the starter, developing a starter durability test system used in the production isrequired.Firstly, explored and analyzed the operating principle of the intelligent protection device,three optimization and improvement schemes were put forward. First, the power module wasoptimized, so the voltage range of the protection device has been widened. Second, theprotection device and a specific type of starter were matched. Third, the protection device hasbeen implanted into the vehicle CAN bus system, so the device can share messages andcommunicate with other intelligent modules.In addition, to test the new type automotive starter before delivery, according to theanalysis of the test requirements, an electrical control system of automotive starter durabilitytest is introduced. It was developed by CP1H PLC and MCGS configuration technology, withcharacteristics of generality, automation, high testing precision. The expected goal forautomatic control of starter life test was achieved in actual application.Finally, a performance test was done on the simulation bench in the enterprise to observeperformance of the intelligent module, and the starter durability was tested on the durabilitytest platform developed by us. Two tasks meet the design requirements.
