Along with the widespread acceptance the Bus Rapid Transit earned in the whole world,this kind of high-speed, efficient and green transit is starting to get popularized in our country.Because of the large city size and population in our country, our cities demand a lot from transitservice, thus at the time of planning and constructing the BRT system, we must sufficientlydemonstrate the quality of the scheme, so that BRT system can fully play advantage, resolutelyavoiding a counter-productive condition. Stations are the key nodes of the BRT system, and itis also the bottleneck of the system, whether they are reasonably set or not directly influents theoperation efficiency and service level of the system, so macro setting of BRT station have beenpicked as the study subject in this paper.In the process of the study, this paper uses the method of combining theory with practice,it not only refers to a lot of related theory study but also with reference to some practicalexperience. On this basis, this paper tries hard to discuss the macro method of BRT stationsettings.This paper firstly introduces the basic knowledge about the BRT station, which containsthe brief introduction of BRT system. The detail introduction of BRT station mainly coversthree aspects, they are BRT station’s classification methods, components and function. At last,analyses the impact of the station for the entire system transport capacity.Optimization of site spacing is the core content of this article. On the base of referring tothe related standards and practical experience of both internal and overseas, discusses theinfluence factors of BRT site spacing, then sorts, analyses and summarizes the relatedtheoretical study which has already existed. After that, puts forward the BRT station numberoptimization model which is based on the walking time that spent by passengers at the two endsof BRT mode, subsequently provides an example. At last, puts out a new modeling thought ofthe site spacing optimization based on maximum transportation efficiency of the system.Optimization of site layout (site location) is another core content of this article. On thebasis of analyzed the influence factors and summarized the general principles of BRT site layout, inquires into the BRT site layout method in both developed areas and developing areas of thecity, to be clear, developing areas of the city include suburbs and new-development areas. Forthe developed areas of the city, a site layout model is proposed in this article, which is based onthe response of the needs of travel demand. Meanwhile, for suburbs and new-development areas,firstly analyses the necessity and feasibility of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) in ourcountry, then expounds the function of BRT station in TOD mode, and finally provides the BRTstation’s planning process in TOD mode.
