Many domestic cities have been making efforts of planning and designing the BRT system, which is derived from the successful applications of BRT in some foreign countries. Especially, BRT system is in operation in a few domestic cities. As a mass transit model, BRT has its advantages which are not exceeded by other transit models, such as huge carrying, fast speed and less investment. So it is not only the first choice for field decision-making, and also the hot topic for research. This paper discusses about the deployment of BRT station, and develops related models. This paper firstly presents the BRT system, and introduces the BRT station in detail, while this paper only refers to bus stop and intermodal station. Then, the two basic theorems are introduced—Benefit Cost Theory and Cost Utility Theory, where the concept of total passenger travel cost and the concept of vehicle operation cost are come up with. The key point of this paper is about optimization of station spacing and location. First, the main impacting factors are discussed by starting with analysis of area character. To model the problem, three aims for station spacing are summarized, and three common optimization models for common transit station spacing are given. According above, a new optimization model based on vehicle travel time and fleet size is established. In addition, an example is used to check rationality and applicability. As for location of station, this paper gives a qualitative analysis and comparison of near-side stop,far-side stop and midblock stop. Then up-grade platform,level-grade platform and down-grade platform are compared with quantitatively, which is according to vehicle delay. At last, this paper makes a conclusion, and comes up with the further research topics.
