Cushion airbags have the features of lighter weight, smaller volume, simpler structure, lower costand higher reliability, thus they are widely used in many applications including impact attenuation forthe flying vehicles. Inflatable structure technology is technology that applying the stiffness of airbagwith high pressure as structure component or function component providing a level of solidness ordrive force.As the research of cushion airbag goes deeper, new advanced airbags with special design comeout more and more, in which the cushion airbag applying inflatable structure technology is one. Thiskind of airbag structure design has two set of airbags, one set is of large volume which is for the useof impact attenuation, the other set of small volume is inflatable airbag providing drive force in theprocess of unfolding for the former one. The inflatable airbag is charged with high pressure gas in theprocess of unfolding, motivating the cushion airbag to absorb the air of the environment through aone-way hole until the cushion bag is fully stretched. Therefore this structure can reduce the amountof gas that carried by the cushion system.This airbag structure stays at the stage of configuration design at present and yet tested in practicefor the flying vehicle, and this thesis investigates the feasibility of airbag structure through computersimulation method. Firstly, a kind of ambient inflated cushion airbag is proposed as frame-drivencushion airbag, which is composed of a simple cushion airbag and a set of pipe airbag attached on theedge of cushion airbag. Secondly, the simulation process of unfolding from folded state and itsresponding cushion effect are figured out, leading to a appropriate results. Lastly, a new ambientinflated airbag is presented at the end.
