X-ray detection technology, regarded as one of several non-destructive testingtechnologies, is widely used at present. With the advances in technology andimprovements in detection accuracy, many issues in testing appeared, such as theincreasing amount of detection channels and data, the longer transmission distance andso on. However, data transfer speeds and bandwidth of the vast majority X-ray detectiondevices were unable to meet the requirements at present. For the actual needs, in thistopic, a kind of X-ray detector data transmission scheme was put forward, which can beused for industrial CT, DR and other detection devices to achieve precise detection ofthe object to be seized.Data transmission system for X-ray detecting device has been studied, whichconsisted of two parts, namely the underlying data transmission circuit and the hostmachine. To ensure the fast data transmission, the Gigabit Ethernet system was designedfor high-speed transmission, in which, transport layer selected UDP-User DatagramProtocol, functions of data link layer was realized by the FPGA digital logic andfunctions of physical layer was finished by dedicated PHY chips. The underlying datatransmission circuit transported the collected data from detection module to the hostcomputer using the designed UDP protocol, at the same time, the host computer alsoreceived and stored the data for data processing and image reconstruction with the samecommunication protocols.In terms of hardware, transmission module included FPGA configuration circuitand PHY chip circuit. EP3C25F324C6in Cyclone II family was selected as FPGA chipwhile88E1111Gigabit Ethernet Controller in Marvell company as PHY chip, whichrealized the function to receive data from acquisition module, after assembling in MAClayer, transmitting to the host computer PHY.In terms of software, digital logic of underlying transport circuits used VerilogHDL language programming to realize the data sending in UDP module, IP module andMAC module. VC++6.0programming was used to complete the host machine’sfunctions which including receiving data transmitted by the underlying transmissioncircuit, storing data real-time, processing data, drawing curves for better data analysis.In terms of analysis and test about the performance, the transmission speed and thetransmission reliability of the system were tested. After debugging, transmission speeds was up to927Mbps, packet loss rate was at0.3%. These results indicate that the datatransmission system can achieve the desired effect.
