| With the development of modern cities and the highly popular of motor vehicles,the streets in cities have gradually lost the primordial function of public events, but wasreduced to the vital communication line for motor vehicles. As important public venuesin cities, the commercial street in residential areas is a carrier for the citizen wherediversified activities take place in daily life, in the meantime is the epitome of a city fortourists. A street should have a strong inclusive and dynamic in order to bring prosperityto the area, show a new look of a city, promote the interaction of people,and createeconomic value for the community.The commercial street in residential areas as a carrier substance space is the city’smicro-miniature, it has its own unique social environment and physical environment. Itcan not only satisfied by the the vehicle, but also to provide public spaces for the peopleof this city. The people in the city as a commercial activity in the main street, the streetwill be affected by changing the characteristics of the physical environment, people areattracted to this, various activities carried out in this public space, and then bring thewhole street commercial climate.This paper intends to urban urbanization process as the background, theTianxingqiao Street in Shapingba District, Chongqing as an example. It comes down torelated discipline such as urban planning, ecology, architecture, landscape architecture,geography and environment-behavior studies. It intends to discuss what would be thecommercial street in residential areas impact of walking activities. After combing theliterature review summarized the characteristics of the physical environment into threecategories combing elements——format functional elements, elements of space andfacilities, environmental factors, and then subdivided into three categories elements8race——store density, format diversity, social interaction spaces density, the density ofrecreational facilities, other facilities density, the sidewalk width, transparency andpermeability. Then it selects Tianxingqiao Street in Shapingba District, Chongqing asthe case, and divides the street into12section and divides one day into6parts of itsmultiple research, then it observes and record the pedestrian activities by behavior mapmethod in every section of the street and every time frame. Finally, statistical analysis,found that the eight substances in the environment characteristic only has sixpedestrian activity manifested varying degrees of influence. This helps to expand the micro-physical environment of urban activities and people behavior, and also to predictthe future relationship between the microstructure of the physical environment. On theother hand, walking the streets between activities provide a quantitative basis, inaddition to benefit the construction of high-quality public space.Firstly, elaborate the research background, raise the purpose and significance of theresearch, then define the object of study and research, afterwards to establish the overalltechnical paper route.Secondly, through a literature review and theoretical studies, they provedpedestrian activity and street environment has a certain characteristic physical contactand to determine the characteristics of the material needs of the street environmentobserved in the research, set the initial research framework.Furthermore, the paper takes two chapters to complete the development of theresearch framework, and use the behavioral methods to pedestrian activity onTianxingqiao Street, then it observes and record the pedestrian activities by behaviormap method in every section of the street and every time frame. By repeating the survey,in6hours pedestrian activity in each street segments has their initial data. Thensummarize data, draw pedestrian activity characteristics of different time dimension andspatial dimension under, and then analyzed by calculating only store density, formatdiversity, social interaction spaces density, sidewalk width, transparency and amenitydensity of these six come to pedestrians activities have a certain impact. Environmentalcharacteristics of the material on the impact of the major categories and then sort ofpedestrian activity, can be very intuitive to see the greatest impact of the type of activitycharacteristic.Finally, in order to create a high-quality public space in streets, the paper proposedplanning strategy for the new streets to provide and also give recommendations for thetransformation of the old streets. On the basis of this study can be expected on thestreets for the future design and management to provide advice and learn from, and topromote the activities of the individual considered humane care in urban settlements,making urban planning and design, while mostly living in which a lot of people toconsider. |
