The opening mechanism for the trunk of automobile is one of the most importantcar accessories. It not only produces an effect on the beauty of the automobile body, butalso concerns the feeling of the user. With the developing of modern technology, theopening mechanism has been put forward higher requirement: longer service life, wilderoperating temperature range, lower noise, and the mechanism can be poised at anylocation of the travel. But gas spring, which is the mainstream product in the markettoday, cannot be poised at any location of the travel, the study of the openingmechanism for the trunk of automobile has a very important theoretical and practicalsignificance.This paper unifies the domestic and foreign research present situation on openingmechanism, propose a new opening mechanism, which is neither hydraulic mechanismnor pneumatic mechanism. This mechanism not only has the advantage of gas spring,but also can be poised at any location of its travel. In this paper, first, we complete thedesign of the mechanism according to the technical requirements of the mechanism.And then, we get the equation between the important parameters and the maximumforce which the mechanism can sustain. Through the numerical simulation of the largefinite element software ANSYS, the stress distribution of the mechanism and therelationship, between the maximum force which the mechanism can sustain and the sizeof the parts, is acquired. In order to verify the accuracy of simulation, preliminaryexperiments have been done, the simulative and experimental force which themechanism can sustain is compared and analyzed. Then completed the numerical valuesimulation orthogonal test of the mechanism, the main factor, which influence theperformance of the mechanism, is been found through analyze the results of the test.Compare to the operating temperature, research on the influence of low temperature. Inthe last, the life test of the mechanism is been done, the factor, which concerns theservice life, is acquired through the analysis of test results.
