| Along with the rapid development of information era, traditional universitylibrary for the purpose of "collect books" transform into the "information" distributioncenter. Therefore, as the main place of college campuses for effective information, theimportance of library information retrieval function is increasingly highlighted. Inorder to meet the readers’ different retrieval demands, the design of functionaldiversification of retrieve space will be a very important part of library buildingdesign. That is an effective complement of library building space theory research.The retrieve space of university library should play a key role in the informationera. By investigation found that area of retrieve space of many university libraryincreases with the enlargement of the construction area, but layout form is simple,function is single, and utilization rate is low, and so on. This paper does studysurround the university library retrieve space, summarized the development ofuniversity library; analyzed the influence of the transformation of service mode, thediversification of literature carrier, the diversification of readers’ information retrievalneeds and high-tech application under the influence of the information era. Throughcollecting network resource of university library, summarized the retrieve spacecommon type of layout and function classification. With the method of fieldobservation analysis it is concluded that the use of the retrieve space with strongperiodic characteristic. With the method of questionnaire research, the space currentsituation of the use were analyzed; analyzed the characteristics of reader types andspatial layout of the retrieval space, the different needs of readers of retrieval functionand spatial diversity. On the basis of analyzing the present situation of universitylibrary retrieval using, the university library in information era retrieve space typesand design principles were proposed. Taking China University of Mining andTechnology library as an example, the reconstruction design scheme of the retrievespace is presented. |
