With the rapid development of China’s economy and society, traffic on the early builtexpressway is increasing rapidly. Traffic in some road sections has been or is about to exceedthe capacity of the expressway. To ensure the needs of regional economic development, socialdevelopment and transportation safety and smooth, expansion of the existing highway isnecessary and urgent. This paper is relying on the expansion of Hang-Jin-Qu expressway. Thewriter did some analysis and research such as the overall construction plan of the expansionproject, local scheme selection and some other issues.(1) According to the highway transportation network of the Hang-Jin-Qu expressway andhighway broaden construction characteristics, the writer analysis the overall reconstructionplan schemes from Hangzhou Hongken hub to the Jinhua exchange. Comparison of the newdouble-track program and widening the old road, and did multi-scheme comparison of the oldroad widening scheme. Finaly determine the bilateral widening as the overall expansion plan,and unilateral widening in some special sections.(2) For mainline bridge widening, compared several options to wide a bridge, anddetermined the widen method that substructure connection and superstructure separation. Forthe bridge widen construction, compared and analyzed two building programs: sidewalkprogram and bilateral super-widen program, and then study the traffic organization for thedifferent programs during construction step. For the separated interchange widening,proposed two schemes: the old bridge demolition and reconstruction, the old bridge widen onboth sides, and the lower local road reconstructed appropriately. In order to the finaldevelopment of local roads, chose the first program. For the interchange widening, select anexchange as example, and list three options. Eventually chose the program which can ensurethe roadbed width of the mainline and ramp, and the amount of roadbed project and area wereless. Then, research the impaction on traffic during the widening project, analyzed thefeasibility to ensure highway operation during construction when did the bilateral widening ofthe old road, bridge, separated interchange and interchange.(3) Conducted a research program on broaden the tunnel, this paper analyzed and calculated the number of lanes of the Xinling tunnel, and proposed some construction plansand made a contrast for the two tunnels. For the long highway tunnel, this paper determinedthe bilateral widening plan. For the shallow short highway tunnel, it should be excavated andset roadbed instead of the tunnel.The methodology and conclusions of this dissertation provide a valuable reference forother highway widening project.
