Crane in China started relatively late, which mainly imported and imitated from theSoviet union in the1950’s. In the21st century, along with the continuous development ofinfrastructure construction and urbanization construction in China, wheel crane makes asignificant development. However, there is still a gap from the international advancedenterprises on the overall quality level because the quality of the components is not reliable,and there are certain gaps in product design compared with the abroad, and ability ofmanufacturing process assurance is relatively weak. The three reasons above cause that thewheel crane’s quality is short of reliability. The recognition has yet to be promoted for foreignusers.First of all, the calculation of reliability index and the improving method of the reliabilityproject are introduced in this paper. Then find out the fittings that feedback is moreoutstanding, and find out the key quality problems of the fittings in the method of Plato. Atlast, the reliability improvement project of the electrical system, two rooms (bridge, controlroom), valve lock, axle, gearbox is put into effect using the method of six sigma. The papercompletes the following several aspects finally.(1) Sort standards and standardize the technical agreement. To sort the technicalstandards of the fittings systematically, and improve applying standards for the research anddevelopment, procurement, manufacturing and test process of the company’s and supplier’s.(2) Sort the faults mode library and form the control points in processes. To sort thequality problem of the market feedback, mining the quality characteristics failure modes ofthe smallest related unit parts, to confirm the processes’ control points of company’s andsupplier’s research and development, procurement, manufacturing, factory inspection and test.(3) Carry out the samples review and then find out quality improvements.(4) Carry out the supervision for suppliers to improve the capability of the supplier’squality assurance.(5) Strengthen the incoming inspection control to ensure the quality stability of thefittings of the factory.(6) Refine the process control, optimize the resource layout of the quality control engineer, perfect detection means, and refine process management.
