The Pavement Reconstruction Scheme Research Of Taihe To Ganzhou Expressway

Asphalt pavement dominates the pavement of the expressway in Jiangxi Province. With thedevelopment of the national economy, the traffic volume is increasing rapidly, and the large vehicles andsevere overloading and the rule of the fixed lane for different traffic (such as heavy vehicle mainly on theright lane) and etc. put much pressure on the asphalt pavement of the expressway. Due to the previouscomparatively low design standard, low traffic forecast and the design theory of the asphalt pavement onthe semi-rigid base course (namely strong base and thin surfacing) during the feasibility study, theearly-built expressways such as the Taihe to Ganzhou Expressway (hereinafter called TGE) hardly meet thedemand of the current traffic, and urgently need to be upgraded. It is very timely and necessary to study theup-gradation scheme of the asphalt pavement of the expressway.The thorough investigation on the pavement condition of TGE, the evaluation on the current roadcondition and the necessary testing and inspection provide the adequate basis for the study of theup-gradation scheme. The cause of the damage to the asphalt pavement is further analyzed and discussed,and the study, compassion and selection of the different treatment schemes are conducted according to thedifferent degree of the damage development and the situation of the damage to the pavement structuralcourse, then the recommended scheme is provided. The key pavement up-gradation schemes for therecycling use of the asphalt pavement and the cement stabilized base course and super-thin paving arestudied, compared and selected, and the opinions are provided for the traffic management scheme, thequality control measures, the construction period arrangement and etc. in order to guide the implementationof TGE’s pavement up-gradation and provide the engineering reference for the other similar projects inJiangxi Province.
