| Traditional Street is hosting a treasure of human history and culture, street layout isformed under the joint influence of geographical and climatic factors, the traditionalConfucian concept of ritual as well as economic and cultural factors; architectural stylereflects the prevailing traditional construction materials, processes levels and decorativefeatures. On the other hand, traditional street with spatial structure from public to privatetransition, is the traditional social structure and social networks and physical expression.At present, China is in the process of rapid urbanization, due to focus on the pursuit ofthe economic benefits of urban renewal, the traditional street value of not enough attentionhas led to many of the traditional alleys pushed to rebuild, causing irreparable history andculture value perish. Concern in the city streets during the update of the traditionalcharacteristics is important.From the perspective of urban renewal theory, this first discusses urban renewal goals,and then analyze the spatial characteristics of traditional streets and alleys feature combinedwith the study of the relevant cases and concluded update strategy, and the developmentprocess of the old city of Heyuan in detail narrative, as an update to the Taiping district tomake specific target traditional streets update strategy.Some scholars have done research to update the traditional streets, researchs focused onupdating the physical environment of the traditional streets.
