Researching Of Traditional Houses Of Meizhou Area Basing On The Cultural Geography

Meizhou is located in the northeast of Guangdong,which is the biggest gathering ofhakka areas and cultural center where has a unique geographic environment and distinctivecultural features.Traditional residence in Meizhou Region are in various forms and are rich incontent. They are important carriers of Hakka culture as well unique cultural landscapes in theregional development. This paper introduces the research method of cultural geography. Italso carries out a systematic collection and information processing of the basic data oftraditional residence in Meizhou. It aims to describe and explain the spatial differences andthe law of distribution of traditional residence in Meizhou Region from a new perspective ofgeography. Meanwhile, the construction of the database of residence will also providevaluable information for further study.The article is divided into five chapters and the main contents are divided into threeparts:First, the construction of the database of traditional residence and the drawing ofgeographic atlas. Through a field research and data collection of traditional residence inMeizhou,540residential samples for study were sorted out. It extracted cultural elements ofthe residence according to certain principles of classification and then input the data.Therefore, the database of traditional residence in Meizhou Region are formed. Based on thedatabase, geographic atlas on spatial distribution of cultural factors can be drawn.Second, the characteristic distribution of cultural landscape and cultural zoning. By usingthe method of Geographic Atlas, the geographical distribution of different cultural elements isclearly reflected. And the spatial differences and the law of distribution of traditionalresidence in Meizhou Region are then described. It divides the Meizhou Region into fourcultural regions based on cultural landscape features of residence in different regions and theprinciple of consistency.Analyzing the forming reason of the traditional residence cultural landscape in Meizhoufrom the perspective of cultural diffusion and cultural integration. Firstly, analyse theformation of Meizhou region culture history and around hakka and chaoshan culture to itsspread. And then parsing cultural integration of traditional residences in the area that from Meizhou geography environment, the central plains culture, the concept of feng shui, andsocial environment and economic development, etc.Through study from the traditional residence in Meizhou by the perspective of culturalgeography,Concluded that two conclusions:first,The hakka cultural is the core of thetraditional residence in Meizhou,by diverse culture spread, formed a unique regional culturelandscape. Secondly,there are in various forms traditional residence in Meizhou. And the theorigin,variation,evolution and diffusion of the different types of traditional residence inthere,are based on the specific natural conditions and social environment.
