| Urban waterfront space is an important landscape element, and it is one of the mostdynamic areas in the city. It not only plays an important role in the urban public open spacedesign, but also reflects the characteristics of the area. In the mid-19th century, some of thecities in the United States, Canada and Europe have begun the redevelopment of the urbanwaterfront space. In the1990s, many of our bigger cities in China also realized theimportance of the urban waterfront development to the city composition and development.Therefore, there have been numerous research, which gives a rich cultural heritage andvibrant atmosphere to the development of the urban waterfront space.Qijiang River is the mother river in Zhongshan, China. It is39kilometers long, and runsthrough the Zhongshan city and the closed by eleven towns. Qijiang River Waterfront area isthe landmark that reflects the formation and development of Zhongshan. It also reflects thecultural and historical style of the old Zhongshan city. However, due to certain factors such aseconomic development and the city history, it is in a relatively unpleasant stage. Theinfrastructure and public service facilities are weak, and the landscape design is poor.Therefore, waterfront renovation is desired. The purpose of this paper is to cover thediscussion of the design of the Qijiang waterfront landscape. The study area is from the NorthPeak Bridge in the Qijiang River Waterfront District to the South Outer Ring Road. Thelength from north and south along the river is about4.5kilometers, and the total design area isabout83.19hectares. It is to explore the design of the Qijiang River Waterfront Landscapeand the geographical characteristics.Through the study of the regional waterfront development of some foreign countries,let’s explore the geographical design features of the Qijiang waterfront landscape of theZhongshan city. Starting from the regional factors of the Zhongshan city (including naturaland human factors) to the geographic factors analysis, we will layout the landscape planningand design of the Qijiang River urban waterfront space through five chapters. The firstchapter is the introduction, which mainly focus on the waterfront regional concept and designapplications; the second chapter describes the current Waterfront Landscape design, includingthe geographical features and the design method; the third Chapter is to explore the geographic characteristics of the Qijiang River; the forth chapter will propose the landscapedesign of the Zhongshan Qijiang River Waterfront space featuring the creation of ideas anddesign methods; and The fifth chapter is the conclusion of this paper. |
