Screw-in cartridge valve has the advantages of compact structure, simple connection,zero leakage, light weight, low cost, high security and so on, it has been more and morewidely used in the hydraulic system, valve characteristic analysis and performanceimprovement are very important to improve the efficiency of the hydraulic system. In thispaper a small diameter constant flow valve has been studied. The valve can maintaineconstant flow in the range of work pressure, at the same time as the valve has little ratedflow, small orifice size, the internal flow of the valve chamber is complex. Thus, this papercombines experimental and simulation methods, use commercial software ANSYS Fluentand AMESim to study the internal fluid characteristics. The paper also study on thevarying work conditions and geometric structure of the screw-in cartridge valves.According to the screw-in cartridge valveā€™s principle a model has been established andsimulated. This paper provide the theoretical basis for improving this type of screw-incartridge valve.In this paper, the constant flow screw-in cartridge valve is studied in the followingareas:(1)Elaborate the working principle of the constant flow screw-in cartridge valves.Calculate and analyze the key factors. The key factors that influence the flow of the valveare fluid resistance type, spring parameter (According to the structure of screw-incartridge valves, design three springs of same stiffness and different free height.) andleakage.(2)Simulate and analyze the three-dimensional flow field of the screw-in cartridgevalve. Obtain fluid pressure field and velocity field at different valve opening. Obtain theflow rate results by simulation under the same pressure, different oil inlet hole diameter,different oil inlet length, and find out the influence those aspects make.(3)Study the static and dynamic characteristics of the valve by software AMESim.Establish the model of screw-in cartridge valve by AMESim,obtain the static and dynamiccurves. Through the simulation obtain the influence caused by spring free height. Analyze the influence caused by leakage clearance between spool and sleeve, and compare theresult with the calculate result.(4)Test the stiffness of two springs for screw-in cartridge valve of differentcompanies, and test the flow rate of the valve. Conclude and analyze the flow rate changerule.Due to the experimental conditions, use the method of add gasket, instead of changethe free height of the spring to do a flow test.Show the influence that spring free heightmake on the flow.
