Organic halide is a kind of organic compound containing chlorine, bromine or iodine. They are lipophilic and difficult to biodegrade. They are easy to accumulate in human and animal fats, and difficult to discharge, resulting in toxic and dangerous to humans and animals. Therefore, they are limited to be used by domestic and international standards. They exist in textile as the forms of pesticide residues, flame retardants and dye carriers. Untill now, the state standards related to detection methods for organic halides in textiles mainly include GB/T 20384-2006 “Textiles―Determination of the residual chlorobenzenes and chlorinated toluenes”, GB/T 18412.2-2006 “Textiles-Determination of the pesticide residues-Part 2: Organochlorine pesticides” and GB/T 24279-2009 “Textiles- Determination of the banned/limited flame retardants”. However, the detection methods of the organic halide in textiles is defective. According to the method proposed by GB/T 20384-2006 “Textiles―Determination of the residual chlorobenzenes and chlorinated toluenes”, some peaks are not separated completely, it can not be accurately quantified. Meanwhile methylene chloride,as the extraction agent in the extraction process, is easily volatilized, leading to the higher result. Twice ultrasonic extraction caused low accuracy, poor reproducibility, more reagents, long detection time when we followed the standard of GB/T 18412.2-2006 “Textiles-Determination of the pesticide residues-Part 2: Organochlorine pesticides” and GB/T 24279-2009 “Textiles-Determination of the banned/limited flame retardants”.In this paper, a fast, efficient and comprehensive approach that can detect organic halide in textiles was established. The gas chromatography mass spectrometry was used to study the qualitative and quantitative analysis of organic halide, and the ultrasonic extraction technology of organic halide was also investigated. By single factor experiment, the detection conditions of organic halides were improved. The results showed that detection limit can up to 0.05- 0.32mg/kg and the recovery rate was 87.28%-102.53% with RSD of 3.65%. Compared with the existing standards, the established method in this paper with short extracting time, higher accuracy and lesser solvent can be used to detect the organic halide. Therefore, the method is more suitable for the needs of actual testing. It can provide a reference for optimizing organic halide detection method.
