With China’s sustained economic development, all walks of life has been growing rapidly. The domestic car ownership is also rising, so the demand for oil and derivatives continues to increase, the demand for various types of oil tank trucks, refueling vehicles is also increasing. At present, most of tank trucks not using for the special design of the chassis make in China, but by other chassis modified, resulting in the oil tank cars have a lot of problems. And that will inevitably affect the vehicle performance and the running safety of tanker. In order to avoid these problems, the designers apply the finite element method in the design of oil tank truck’s frame and modification, and effectively improves the vehicle performance, and greatly improves the work efficiency and save the development costs. In this paper, the research object is the Dong Feng oil tank truck of rear double axles. It is ultimately determined that use the finite element method to analysis the dynamic characteristic of the oil tank frame through the consult massive domestic and foreign literature on the research methods of the frame of research and learning. Firstly, the geometry model and finite element model of the frame were established by the use of CATIA three-dimensional modeling software and finite element analysis software Workbench. Then, the statics analysis and dynamics analysis of the frame is conducted based on the finite element model of the frame. Statics analysis mainly analyzes the tanker frame of the bending, twisting, braking, through the deceleration zone four conditions under the full load condition, and the stress distribution and deformation of the frame is obtained. The modal analysis and transient dynamic analysis has carried on to assess the dynamic performance of frame. The weakness of frame is found through the static and dynamic analysis of the frame, and this can provide a certain reference for the actual design.
