With the rapid development of China’s economy, as coal becomes the main economic energy in our country, coal industry is also rising. With the merger and integration of coal enterprises, the scale of production is also growing, and loss of property and personal injury caused by the disaster in safety production become more and more popular. In order to enhance the level of coal mine safety production and further increase the escape chance of underground workers, based on the actual conditions of coal mine, a coal mine escape system was established, and the underground workers were educated.The coal mine escape system based on Virtools provided a virtual training platform of survival for underground workers, so trainees in the system could do operations such as running and roaming and get familiar with the distribution of underground tunnel, refuge chamber and movable capsule and other safetyfacilities. And the shortest route used to escape to the nearest Safety evacuation place after affected was simulated. The coal mine escape system based on Virtools not only made the underground workers understand the subsurface environment better and reduced the injury and death rate of accident, but also provided certain theoretical reference for coal mine emergency plan.The coal mine escape system using Virtools as a development platform,after determining the overall design of system and the route of development,some related methods were introduced. The types, the parameters, the arrangement and the location principle of various underground emergency refuge facilities which could be used as safe refuge point of escape system were analyzed. Compared with several kinds of the shortest path algorithm used commonly, combine with the coal mine model of system research, on the basis of K bidirectional search algorithm of optimal path, the Dijkstra algorithm was further optimized to calculate two shortest escape route for each escape starting point and instance verification was done in the model of mine. Finally, the coal mine escape system was discussed detailedly, using BB module in Virtools the function of miners drill in system was realized, using VSL the storage and reading of laneway parameter were finished so that the application of shortest path algorithm in the system was achieved.After logining system interface, the trainees could control and roam in training module. The escape function could be demonstrated in the demonstration module, at the same time the shortest route calculated by thesystem could be seen in the upper-left corner of system demo screen. The experimental results showed that applying the optimized Dijkstra algorithm to the coal mine escape training system was feasible and effective.Coal mine escape system based on Virtools breaks through the limitation that the shortest path solved in theory is the traditional way to use the shortest path algorithm in coal mine escape system. Combining the advantage of VSL in Virtools development platform, the Dijkstra algorithm was successfully applied to the underground escape training system to make up the defect of the BB module in Virtools, not only promoting the development of the shortest path algorithm, but also increasing the survival chance of the underground workers,which has great significance to the coal mine safety production and management.
