Water quality of rural tributaries directly affects water quality of main river into Taihu basin, and ultimately affects that of Taihu basin. Rural tributaries has problems such as complex and covert pollution sources, poor fluidity of water, serious endogenous pollution, etc, so it is the most complicated region for water environment problem in Taihu basin. This thesis focus on the water quality investigation and water environment problem diagnosis of rural tributaries, analyze different water environment control strategies, and aim to develop a water-environmental management software. Research results are as follows:1. Through exploration and investigation on type, distribution situation and quantity of pollution source for 15 main inlet rivers of Taihu basin, we measured main pollution indexes such as permanganate index, total phosphorus, total nitrogen as well as NH3-N concentration. Altogether we did field test 602 times for 239 rural tributaries of 15 main inlet rivers into Taihu basin, acquired 2362 water quality data.2. By comparison and analysis of 2362 data acquired through the first step, we selected 40 rural tributaries that has obvious water quality feature from 15 main rivers into Taihu basin. After that, according to the change characters of different pollution indexes, we analyze and diagnose the pollution sources of the selected 40 rural tributaries, categorize them into 6 species:domestic, industrial, agricultural, livestock, aquiculture and compound pollution.3. Focus on water system communication, pollution source control, long-term management maintenance, we advise treatment countermeasures towards rural tributaries of different pollution sources, including structure strategies as well as non-structure strategies.4. Based on GIS coordinate, we make geographical indications to rural tributaries, and use WinCC V7.0+SP3 as human-computer interface of monitor system, store and analyze data by SQLSERVER, apply.NET and IndustrialX to develop a management software, considering the division of administrators from different administrative regions, to support the water environment management staff to monitor and harness water quality of Taihu basin.
