| Eccentric circular work-piece, of which the roundness error exerts great influence on the nature and properties, are widely used in all kinds of mechanical products, and Crank-Rod is a typical type of eccentric circular work-piece. The software, which is developed to measure the error of roundness of eccentric circles based on the gear’s center for measurement, is able to add the function of the gear’s center for measurement and gain some popularity with the customers. Two methods, transposition+Rectangular coordinates measurement and tracking measurement by scanning, have been proposed to measure the roundness of crankshaft based on a variety of methods for measuring the roundness err of crankshaft and the measurement properties of C40 gear center for measurement.In this paper, we present the principle of measurement of the two newly-proposed methods and give the calculation formula of the coordinates of the movement control point. The software,which can automatic completion roundness of work-piece, was developed base on Visual C++. The software includes determining the initial position of the work-piece, printing the roundness and drawing error curve. Evaluation module, which can evaluate algorithm of software and analysis the factors affecting the measurement results, was added in software.By changing ways of installment, the roundness error of work-piece is measured with different eccentricities. The experiment show that the measurement software can complete the roundness of eccentric work-piece. The measurement results originating from different methods show the error of measurement can be reduced by keeping the direction of the measuring forces of 3D probe constant in measurement process. In order to look into the reasons for greater measurement results on condition of mandrel was clamped by chuck.
