In mature drilling technology and increasingly perfect reservoir recognition technology, the application of horizontal well has been used in almost all of the oil and gas production all over the world. Based on this advantage, it has become an important technology of the oil and gas production.In view of the reality of oil field gradually entered the high water-cut stage, horizontal well technology has also gradually become the important technical measure to enhance reservoir recovery. With the horizontal well technology development, water shutoff is an important aspect in In the mid and later stage.The study of water control/water shutoff technology can improve the control capacity of the horizontal well development effect and improve the effect of the horizontal well overall development.The definition of packer positioning plugging agent in horizontal well annulus is introducted in this paper,which is thixotropic fluid. Through the Fluent software, the flow pattern of Newton fluid and thixotropic fluid in the annulus flow field is calculated and analysed using numerical simulation method. It has reference significance to the study of this kind of problem which will encountered in the water shutoff technology and other fileds. Basic knowledge of computational fluid dynamics and Fluent computational fluid dynamics software are introduced in detail.Through pretreatment software Gambit, the physical model of the concentric annulus and eccentric annulus flow field is established in a three-dimensional coordinate system. The Newtonian fluid in a concentric annulus flow field of laminar flow and thixotropic fluid concentric annulus laminar flow is simulated. Using Origin, Photoshop software, the data and graphics obtained from numerical calculation is processed, and obtain the velocity distribution of the Newtonian fluid and the thixotropic fluid in concentric annulus.The laminar flow of two fluid in the concentric annulus is compared, and the flow of different concentration of thixotropic fluid in concentric annulus is compared and summarized.In this paper, the flow of the thixotropic fluid in eccentric annulus flow field is simulated, and obtain the displacement law of thixotropic fluid in eccentric annulus flow field of different eccentricity, flow index, viscosity, density difference.Displacement efficiency of thixotropic fluid in eccentric annulus flow field under different data is presented. Using the post-processing software, the calculated results are given in the form of the curve of the influence of displacement laws in eccentric annulus flow field under different parameters, which make the numerical calculation result more intuitive.
