Technology of orientating fish is one of a key part, also a difficult part in freshwater fish preprocessing technics and there is no related equipment on the market now. Researching and manufacturing related orientation equipment can not only promote the development of the freshwater fish processing industry, but also bring huge economic benefits.Based on previous research, this article experimentally and theoretically researched rules of fish during the head and tail orientation.The equipment is a reciprocating vibration machine, its structure was designed, mainly including the table-board angle adjusting device, driving device and damping device, besides, structure parameters of the relevant parts were also identified. Adjustable extent of factors of the designed reciprocating head and tail directional vibration equipment of fresh water fish is big, among which the angle of exciting force and table ranges from30 degree to 90 degree, the table angle ranges from 25 degree and 45 degree.Brief introduction of principle about head and tail orientation of fish was made, after acquiring physical parameters of the silver carps, the orientation angle was identified and two model of fish was proposed, movement of fish on the vibration device was deduced and changing laws of orientation time of the two model when equipment parameters changed were simulated by using MATLAB.Taking silver carps weighting 1kg~1.5kg as research objects, using exciting force, angle between exciting force and table-board, exciting force frequency, dip angle of table-board as experiment factors and success rate, directional orientation time as experiment indexes, single factor experiment was did by means of high speed photography technology, the best fish model was chosen and correctness of the theory was verified, the optimal parameters of directional device was identified by multifactorial experiment based on the single factor experiments.The single factor experiment results shows that: within increase of the exciting force, angle between exciting force and table-board, dip angle of table-board, orientation time decreases, however when the exciting frequency increases,orientation time increases first and then decreases, but the overall trend is reduction, indicating that the theory is feasible. The single factor experiment shows that the success rates under four factors all reach 100%. Analysis of variance of single factor experiment shows that these four factors have a significant effect on the orientation time(P<0.01).Multifactorial experiment results show that when the frequency of exciting force is 61.14rad/s, dip angle of table-board is 30 degree and the vibrating motor eccentric distance is 0.0396 m. Comprehensive score of average orientation time, success rate of orientation and average final angle is the highest, the average orientation time is 0.878 s, average final angle is 171.7 degree, success rate of orientation is 100%.
