In recent years, with the social development, the production of mineral resources has been becoming more and more abundant. Jilin tonghua Cibaisong copper-nickel mining was attached to Tonghua City(Kuaidamao Town), which belong to underground mining. Due to the impact to water environment and ecological impact from the mining process, according to domestic and foreign relevant literature retrieval as well as to the engineering project analysis of Jilin tonghua Cibaisong copper-nickel mining, the water environment and ecological environment in the present situation of mining area were evaluated, then environment and ecological effects from the project were analyzed and evaluated. The research results show that in addition to the SS in No.6 and the SS and Nickel No.7 in SS exceed standard in all seven monitoring points, the rest monitoring index in the monitoring sections all satisfy the requirements of 《Environmental quality standards for surface water》(GB3838-2002)grade Ⅲ of the surface water quality standard; The groundwater water quality of the groundwater monitoring wells all meet the requirements of 《Quality standard for ground water》(GB/T 14848-93) class Ⅲ of the groundwater quality standard.Under normal circumstances, the waste water would not be effluent. In accident cases, the tailings leakage would influence the surface and rivers. Deposit drainage, orebody mining and tailings seepage had little impact to the groundwater quality. But, as the project influence was mainly the existing mining area and new tailings cover, the vegetation was given priority to with trees and brushwood, mine development would have some effect on the region’s ecological environment. Biomass reduces 50%, the floor space of the diggings and new tailings mining area were about 0.65 km2. As the trees were cut down, the green space area was reduced. Due to the limited floor space, The ecological structure and the biodiversity characteristics that the greenbelt was the major landscape would be not changed. In the run-time, the noise from the equipment and vehicles would also exacerbate that the wild animals might move to the forest, which made that the species and quantity of the surrounding wildlife would decrease constantly in the project location. Overhead line would not block animal migration channels. At the same time, the engineering could induce geological disasters.Recommend that the mining enterprises should take active environmental protection measures at the mining time. Soil and water conservation scheme should adopt the measures combining engineering measures with plant measures, which could prevent and control the soil erosion in mining area.
