Study On The Art Of Clothing Color Of The Terracotta Qin

This paper study the dress color and patterns of the Terracotta Warriors in the Tomb of Emperor Qinshihuang. We look into the culture and historical background of the construction of the Qin Terracotta Warriors, with the ancient philosophy of "Yin and Yang and the five elements" and the view of “five colors” as the guiding ideology. We make statistical study of authentic archaeological records and statistical research on 1446 terracotta dress color information, consult the body remnants and the exfoliation remnants painted on the terracotta figurines, and analyze the clothing color and pattern characteristics of the painted Terracotta. We build the color scheme and the pattern scheme of the Terracotta painting, recover the Terracotta painting and draw out the recovery plan for thirteen typical figures.We make statistical research of clothing color and show that warriors wear colored accounted for: green(46.92%), purple(20.85%), red(19.92%), blue(8.77%), white(3.46%), black(0.08%). Another double color leggings, double color, double color collar and cuffs, its color is green accounted for 69.03%,and further show the main colors of painted Terracotta Warriors are green, purple, red, blue, of which the green is the most popular, purple, red relatively popular, and then comes blue, white is used little, yellow and black is rarely used.We recovered the Terracotta figures and find that the color characteristics of the Terracotta figures is 1) bright, gorgeous, with intensive contrast; 2) Qin soldiers dressed gorgeous and is the reflection of their real life. As they did not have a formal uniform, the soldiers often put on their ordinary clothes and just put on an armor during the war.We summarize the characteristics of the dressing color in Qin Dynasty as follows: people in Qin Dynasty often dressed in gorgeous colors whereas the rulers advocates black. This diversity and coexistence is a main characteristic of Qin Dynasty.The creativity of this papers is as follows: 1) we build the color scheme and the pattern scheme of the Terracotta painting,summarize the characteristics of the dressing color of the Terracotta; 2) we recover the Terracotta painting and draw out the recovery plan for thirteen typical figures, and summarize the characteristics of the dressing color of the Qin Dynasty.The research process of this project can be divided into the following steps: 1) look into the culture and historical background of the construction of the Qin Terracotta Warriors; 2) make statistical research according to the authentic archaeological records, analyze the use of colors in the Terracotta figures, and build the color scheme and the pattern scheme of the Terracotta painting; 3) recover the Terracotta painting and draw out the recovery plan for thirteen typical figures; 4) apply above research results in the modern fashion design, combining with modern concepts to design series of fashion works with the intrinsic characteristics of both modern and historical beauty.
