Checker is a kind of very common geometric shape pattern. It has been prevalently used in all kinds of product design as a design element, for example, textile, architecture, interior design and fashion design. Checkered element has a variety of different functions in fashion design.Different countries, ethnicity or brands use different types of checkered element on their clothing. In modern fashion design, checkered element is more prevalently used in shirts, suits,trousers or sweaters, etc. It is most prevalently used in men’s clothing. In the meantime,checkered element is very ordinary. It is just because of its ordinariness that consumers accept and adore it. In this sense, it is valuable in business.Checker can play different roles in fashion design as it has different shape language. This article discusses checkers function in male skirts design though checker and customers and brand genes construction, which means brand heritage point quality and cultural core. First, this article summarizes checker identification, types, features and its applications in different areas and analyzes checker language in male shirts though color, model, material angles. Second,though reading of checkers language and male shirts customers basic needs and priorities, this article describes close connection between checker and customers. Thus, it finds a base point for male shirt design. Third, according to checker application in male shirt design, this article analyzes and discusses checker shirt and men’s clothing DNA though two brands TOMMY HILFIGE and MUJI. In the end, this article discusses how to base on customers basic needs,taste tendencies and brand DNA to proposes a reasonable color, material and whole match design plan though YOUNGER brand customer research. So, it tries to prove that this research method, from design element to customer to brand DNA, has direction function for the development of checker male shirt in men’s clothing brand. Meanwhile, author proposes three male checkers shirt design plans for brand in need, which based on the research result in male checkered shirt features.
