Nowadays, the requirement for the life-quality becomes higher than before with the improvement of the people’s living standards. As far as the surfactant industry is concerned, stricker requirements are demanded for the surfactant’s safety, mildness and environment protection. As a result, there are two obvious directions for the development of the surfactant industry. On the one hand, synthesis of environmental friendly surfactants is required as far as the angle of the environment concerned; On the other hand, the cheap and low toxicity of the raw materials are used as far as the perspective of material concerned. Therefore, surfactants, which have good synthesis-biodegradability and eco-compatibility, are favored due to meet both of above aspects. The main symbols of new surfactants in the modern world possess high-surface-activity, versatility and eco-solubility and so on. Moreover, the synthesized surfactants by amino acids as the raw materials not only have the advantages of these properties, but also have advantages of mildness, low-toxicity, anti-bacteria, corrosion, anti-disease and so on. Because of these advantages, it is widely applied in the fields of food, chemical products and medical treatment. This thesis presents the synthesis, structure characterization and properties measurement of a series of amino acid-type surfactants. Main contents are as follow:(1) The process included the generation of maleic acid dodecyl monoester by esterification reaction of maleic anhydride with dodecanol mixed without the solvent.(2) Amino acid surfactants were synthesized by N-Michael addition reaction with maleic acid dodecyl monoester and various functionalized amino compounds(The optimal reaction conditions for the synthesis of amino acid surfactants of functional amino derivatives of dodecyl succinic acid monoester were screened by orthogonal experiment: water as solvent is 1.5 mL, ethanol as solvent is 5 mL, reaction time is 4h, the molar ratio of NaOH and the raw material is 1.6:1, reaction time is 4h) and the acquisition of relatively purer products were purified from the obtained crude products.(3) The structure of the synthesized products were characterized with IR and 1H-NMR.(4) Surface properties, foamability and emulsibility of synthesized surfactants were discussed. The testing results of surface properties showed that cmc and Gcmc values of synthesized surfactants were small, which can reduce the surface tension. The HLB values of synthesized surfactants were between 15 and 40, the HLB values of amino-ethanol derivatives of dodecyl sodium salt of succinic acid monoester was smaller than other surfactants, in other word, its lipophilicity was better than other surfactants. The testing results of foamablility showed that synthesized surfactants have good foaming properties and good foaming stabilities. The testing results of emulsibility showed that the emulsifying of glycine derivatives of dodecyl sodium salt of succinic acid monoester was better than other surfactants. The advantages of the method used in this thesis included the low cost, the non-toxic solvent, the mild reaction temperature and the simple operation. Consequently, it can be anticipated that our approach will be further applicable to the synthesis of a variety of monoester and amino acid. Moreover, it can be feasible that varying amino acids in their structure can obtain other similar amino acid-based surfactants.
