Research Of Sustainable Fashion Design Based On Up-cycling Method

General process of design to production is“design- pattern design- pattern cutting- production”.The separation of these processions lead to merely 85% of the effective fabric utilization, with15% fabric remaining left behind in the cutting room. This is a serious waste of natural resources and human labor.Sustainable fashion design methods including: zero waste pattern design, reconstruction,up-cycling. This paper is focus on the experimentation and methods of up-cycling design. The starting point is sustainable fashion design, combined with contemporary economic and social environment, to analyze the concept of up-cycling design; secondly, summarize the technology is based on the research of traditional and contemporary technology of the pre-consumer textile waste recycle, resulting in up-cycling design technology: patchwork, deconstruction, decoration,laser cutting, weaving; in the end, innovative design based on up-cycling method, also to evaluate practice process and results.In conclusions: up-cycle design based on broad technology is a feasible choice; sustainable fashion design should served the mass market; it is the key for reasonable choice of textile wastes in the up-cycling design; it is a important factor for harmonious collocation in up-cycling design.
