With the rapid development of China’s petroleum and chemical industry, the drilling construction process of oil exploration and development would produce large amounts of waste drilling mud, which had different impact on the soil, surface water, groundwater and the production of human life around. Therefore, the disposal of waste drilling mud is particularly important. Based on the features and pollutant characteristics of drilling waste mud system produced by Yanchang Petroleum in the northern of Shaanxi, this paper selected the gel breaking before solidification process to deal with waste drilling mud.Firstly, this article selected the breaker types. By investigating the influence of different types and additions of breaker on the cake moisture, CODCr and pH, it determined that the optimal breaker was ferric chloride and its optimal dosage was 7g/L. Centrifugal fluid contaminants are greatly reduced after pre-treatment,which simplify the curing process. Then select the compressive strength, CODCr, pH, chromaticity as a control condition for the orthogonal experiment, the result determined that the optimal formula composed of composite curing agent, namely 100ml waste drilling muds need to be added 45g fly ash,45g loess,6g lime,4g cement. To further explore the factors which affect the curing result, the increase of the mud content’s density was beneficial for the enhancement of compressive strength. The curing temperature was preferably controlled below 45℃. With the increase of pH of the leaching solution, CODCr value decreased, indicating that the cured body was more stable under alkaline conditions. With the extension of the leaching time, the fly ash in composite curing agent could absorb large amount of harmful substances, so the decreased.
