Diesel of northwest region of China has high content of wax. Common pour point depressant can significantly reduce the pour point of diesel fuel, but the effect which reduces the cold filter plugging point of diesel is limited. In this paper, we used the diesel which produced by Yanan refinery, Yulin refinery, and Yongping refinery of Shaanxi Yanchang company as the research object. In order to reduce the basis diesel’s cold filtration point and freezing point, we synthesized a series of new types pour point depressant of diesel fuel, and mixed every of them with T1804 to obtain good products that could effectively reduce the cold filter plugging point and pour point of the basis of diesel.Through the analysis of the basis diesel, methyl hexadecyl acrylate was selected. The effects of various factors, such as amount of the catalyst, reaction time and the ratio of reactants on the esterification rate were investigated. When the catalyst was 1.5%, reaction time was 5h and ratio of reactants was 1.2:1, the esterification rate was the highest.Methyl hexadecyl acrylate polymerized with vinyl acetate, styrene, α-olefin, maleic anhydride and other polar unsaturated olefin respectively. The effects of various factors, such as reaction time, the catalyst, the ratio of reactants and the temperature on the polymerization were investigated. The poly(methyl hexadecyl acrylate-α-olefin) has good effect on reducing the cold filter plugging point. When the reaction time was 5h, the amount of catalyst was 1.0%, the monomer ratio was 3:1 and the reaction temperature is 80-85℃, the experimental conditions was the best.The additives experimental of a series of new types pour point depressant on 0# basis diesel of Yanan refinery showed that SMA-α (poly(methyl hexadecyl acrylate-α-olefin)) and T1804 had the good synergy. When SMA-α:T1804=2:4, the adding amount of pour point depressants were 200-400ppm, the basis diesel’s cold filter plugging point coule be reduced 6-11℃, the basis diesel’s pour point could be reduced 7-12℃, and the basis diesel could be up to the standards of 0# basis diesel. When SMA-α:T1804=2:4, the adding amount of pour point depressants were 600-800ppm, the basis diesel’s cold filter plugging point coule be reduced 13-14℃, the basis diesel’s pour point could be reduced 17-20℃, and the basis diesel could be up to the standards of -10# basis diesel.The additives experimental of the enhanced pour point depressant on the -10# basis diesel of Y ulin refinery showed when the adding amount of pour point depressants were 600-800ppm, th e basis diesel’s cold filter plugging point coule be reduced 4-5℃, the basis diesel’s pour point could be reduced more than 15℃, and the basis diesel could be up to the standards of-10# bas is diesel. To -10# basis diesel of Yomhping refinery, when the adding amount of pour point de pressants were 400-800ppm, the basis diesel’s cold filter plugging point coule be reduced 2-3 ℃, the basis diesel’s pour point could be reduced more than 15℃, and the basis diesel could b e up to the standards of -10# basis diesel.When SMA-a(poly(methyl hexadecyl acrylate-a-olefin)) was mixed with T1804, the properties of SMA-a(poly(methyl hexadecyl acrylate-a-olefin)) were significantly improved to the diesel oils of Yanan refinery, Yulin refinery, and Yongping refinery respectively. There were no significant rebounds when the diesel oils were stored 60 days at room temperature.
